Trekking in the Serra Norte (E1, E2 and E3)
Approximately 60 kilometres north-east of Oaxaca, this mountain range is integrated with more than 100 mainly Zapotec villages, and is home to the Pueblos Mancomunados, a union of 8 villages cooperating together in a community-based ecotourism project. The terrain is a variety of extremes, as is the climate. The average height is 2,850 m.s.l and the temperature, often clement during the day, drops considerably at night and can reach lows of 0°C. The vegetation is predominantly pine forest.

Treks available at all levels E1, E2 y E3

E1 : Easy
Excursion suitable for any person. No equipment is carried. Special training is not required.

E2 : Medium
Excursion suitable for people with minimum fitness. Equipment and belongings need to be carried personally.

E3 : Difficult
More than 5 hours of walking per day. Personal and group equipment needs to be carried. Difficult natural environment with some climbing involved and abrupt changes of temperature and weather conditions. A good level of physical fitness is required.
