Sierra Norte
Approximately 60 kilometres north-east of Oaxaca, this mountain range is integrated with eight Zapotec villages. The terrain is a variety of extremes, as is the climate. The average height is 2,850 meters above sea level, and the temperature, often clement during the day, drops considerably at night and can reach lows of 0°C. The vegetation is predominantly pine forest.
